Ü has applied her unique and effective story telling skills to help organizations generate more awareness or support for good causes.

Fundraising Projects with Children's Homes

After submitting her Einstein Green Card application, Ü waited for the processing in Taiwan. During the wait, Ü emailed 26 children's homes in Taiwan and offered to help with fundraising events. Hualien Youth Home (HYH, under Mustard Seed Mission) took the offer. Their first collaboration generated over $10K with less than $300 cost. After that, HYH hired Ü for more fundraising events (play, concert, flash mob...) and hit every fundraising goal. In 2014, the HQ of Mustard Seed Mission hired Ü for a community transformation project that aimed for over 20 millions. Ü helped Mustard Seed Mission raise over 1 million dollars in 4 months before moving back to the US.

"Celebrate Ukraine with Music by Ukrainians"

In Feb 2025, Ü made a post on her FB page, "Like to perform music by Ukrainian composers???..." Many friends volunteered and Ü started the search for a venue and a date. With help from many, Boris Derow, Theresa Lee-Whiting, B. D. Ram, Maria Aimoniotis, Hakan Tayga, Christina Docenko, Gregory Docenko, Donna Docenko, Nathan Bornfreund, Maxim Synevsky, Nadya Petchenyi, Julia Kadylak, Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church Choir, St John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church Choir, Together For Ukraine Foundation, and Ü put together a memorable performance that raised over $10K in St John's Memorial Center on June 1, 2025.

Promotional Events for Contemporaries

Ü carries the responsibility to promote fellow talented contemporaries. (A big part of it is to pay it forward for the family, friends, and strangers who have done the same for Ü) In one summer, Ü played for a private lesson and heard an outstanding young tenor, MJL, who was visiting abroad. Ü talked to MJL after the lesson and found out that MJL only got heard by this voice teacher and MJL intended to study in the US. Ü recognized the talent and could not let this talent go back to Asia without being heard by more influential people. With MJL's permission, Ü contacted several famous voice teachers in NYC and MJL got to sing for all the contacted teachers. One of them immediately contacted Ü and said, "MJL agreed to study with me, please don't send him to other studios". And now, MJL is a famous tenor who has been contracted by many European opera houses.

The poster on the right is Stanley Friedman. Ü met Stanley during the opera conference in Memphis in 2025. After listening to the first sample from his HYPATIA, Ü couldn't stop herself from listening to everything available on this composer's playlist. Ü believes she's found the Verdi of our time because of his daring and brilliant compositions that show off the voices, the orchestra, and humanity. With the intention to see more of Stanley's works performed in the world, Ü has shared about Stanley in several interviews worldwide. Ü is also taking a part in Stanley's work presentation in the National Opera Center in NYC in May 2026.

Free Form Projects

Ü enjoys learning and has great patience. Ü takes learning as a lifelong journey. Ü has taken many pauses and resumes for many different subjects. At least one pause was 30 year long. Take this photo on the right for example, Ü bought a Rubik's cube when she was in elementary school. Ü messed it up and couldn't solve it. The unsolved cube was in one drawer in her piano studio at home in Taiwan. In one summer 30 years later, Ü got an unsolved Rubik's cube from her nephew in VA and learned to solve it with the help with Internet. The first thing after visiting Taiwan in 2025, Ü went to that specific drawer in her piano studio at home, retrieved the unsolved cube, and put a closure on this 30 year old puzzle. It was quite satisfying. Ü works for perfection and embraces imperfection. Ü enjoys collecting data and letting the data peacefully sit in her mind. When the conditions are right, a pattern shows up to connect lots of seemingly random pieces. So, if you have some exciting ideas to shed more light on humanity or a good cause to support, please elaborate.

Ü was the associate conductor for Tri Cities Opera in 2025. While preparing for Amahl and the Night Visitors, Ü heard Josiah in a school performance in Owego Free Academy. Josiah performed so well that Ü went to Josiah after the performance and encouraged Josiah to audition for the lead role, Amahl. With only three days of preparation, Josiah memorized 11 pages of music perfectly and "performed" his audition. Josiah performed Amahl in all the performances and dazzled the audience in Dec 2025. Ü just engaged Josiah to perform the lead role, Tiny, in her opera, "Tiny Finds The Mightiest" (based on her book, "The Strong, The Fast, And The Tiny") in the performance in the Theater in Discovery Center (Time TBD).
